I just switched over to Numbers (trial) from Excel and I have run into a very annoying problem. How can I delete entire cells and have content fill in the space. Example: below is a simple cost breakdown.
To delete the actual cell selection rather than just clear the cell contents, follow these steps: Select the cells, rows, or columns you want to delete. Click the drop-down button attached to the Delete button in the Cells group of the Home tab. Click Delete Cells on the drop-down menu.
I want to delete just the row 2 and only columns 1, 2, 3 (as there is other information in other rows to the right). This is a simple function on Excel, but when I try it with Numbers I can only get it to delete the entire row including the other information) Column 1 2 3 4, 5, 6, etc 1Transport from Jo-burg 500 1000 other information over here 2 3Modem Airtime 390 610 4Cell Airtime 110 500 Thank you so much!
Your question is not clear. Are you wanting to empty some cells in a row? This is done thru: select the cells, press the delete key. Or Are you wanting to suppress the cells so that those which are 'below' in the columns move up one row?

This feature is unavailable. You must select all the cells below then move them by yourself. Th metaphor used in Numbers is that a row is a record of datas. In such a metaphor, moving up only some cells of given rows is a wrongdoer. Yvan KOENIG (VALLAURIS, France) samedi 4 septembre 2010 17:57:08. Corey, The best solution would be to Edit Cut the 'other information over here' and Paste as a new table in a blank area of the Sheet's canvas. Then delete everything you don't need from the original table, including all blank cells where the other data used to be. This is possible and easy now that you have de-coupled the modem data from the other data. What I have described is the Numbers Way of arranging disparate data - a departure from the Excel Way.
